Cara Devine

Cara is a native of Alabama. She has been a nanny for the past 11 years where she has enjoyed not only the children, but also the opportunity to speak into their young lives. Being raised in a Christian home and in church established a good foundation in her, but she did not become serious about serving the Lord until her senior year of high school. With that new focus on a walk with God came a desire to have someone disciple the passion that was growing in her heart. God's faithfulness lead her to Greg and Gretchen DeVries.

She soon realized that her passion for God was becoming a call into the ministry. She gladly received the call. God began to break her heart over the needs that she saw in the streets and introduced her to street ministry in Huntsville and other cities.

In those early days she worked with Expectation Ministries running a clothing and food closet. She also helped develop a team of young people who served the Big GIG Youth Conference doing dramas and altar work. During the summers of 1997 and 1998, she helped organize and lead teams of young people into street ministry.

When Greg became senior pastor of Faith Christian Fellowship, she served as part of his support staff. During this time she developed a ministry called Inner City Undertaking (ICU) in Huntsville. The purpose of ICU was to facilitate large outreaches to the inner city communities, and on a weekly basis, to meet needs and refresh people outside of the church doors. Through ICU a senior citizen outreach was also established.

While at FCF, Cara began a dance ministry and joined the worship team. God used this to develop both songs of deliverance and prophetic/new songs in her. Cara has allowed God to develop a servant's heart in her. She has learned how to operate in the prophetic, both in the church and on the streets. It is her cry to see God's voice touch and change lives. She carries a strong heart for New Orleans and has a vision of spending a season in Amsterdam some time in the future.

"There is so much to be done and the times are moving so fast in our society. The harvest is there, I know, but I must take the time to see it first and then the time to reach it. I am a part of Expectation Ministries because I believe in the vision of training the Body of Christ in prophetic evangelism and because we go and do it! (We live what we preach.) Our hearts really do break for the people in the streets and we only want to do more-more prayer, more training, more reaching. I believe in Him, in His power, and in His voice. He alone is what this generation needs, both young and old. Many times I would have given up, but I can not let go of this vision-or maybe this vision will not let go of me! That is why I am at Expectation Ministries; the vision will not let me go. Plus EM is my family and home. I love Greg, Gretchen, their children and the staff. Everybody is so simple and intense all at the same time. I'm glad I am here for awhile! " - Cara
