What a wondrous God we serve! The past 2 weeks have been full of tears, sweat, labor and joy as we have had the privilege to touch the needs and lives of those affected by the April 27th day of tornados here in Alabama. In the midst of the grief of so much loss, we have been a part of watching the Body of Christ truly come together from all over our nation! Thank you for all of your prayers, the supplies you and your congregations have collected and sent our way, for the financial support and the people that have come to actually join in the labor. It has been an amazing journey and we have seen and heard of God's supernatural provision daily!
Today will be our last day to run our mobile kitchen up in Pisgah. As people have regained power and the initial crisis of the storms has passed, the need for this aspect of the relief effort has really subsided. This is a good thing! We are moving this mobile kitchen unit to a place called CampToKnowHim, of which our children's' ministry has enjoyed for several years now. It is just a few miles from where we are set up at the moment. Though it had some damage from the storms itself, the owners are allowing us to use their cabins over the next months to host work crews coming in from out of state who want to help with the clean-up and rebuilding of homes in this north Alabama region. The mobile kitchen will be used to feed the laborers.
As the National Guard, FEMA, EMA and Red Cross pull out of our little compound today, we will be retaining space in the warehouse here in Pisgah for the months to come and continue to operate a distribution center of non-perishable food, hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, diapers and baby wipes, etc. We will be able to share more about this as things develop.
Many of you are still inquiring about how you can be a part of this ongoing ministry opportunity:
1) If you or a group from your church are interested in coming and help with tree/brush removal and/or carpentry work, you can contact Pastor Joe Young at the Rock Family Worship Center in Scottsboro at: 256.259.4225
2) We will continue to need provisions of non-perishable foods, diapers/wipes, hygiene items, cleaning products/items. Our mobile kitchen will need powdered drink mixes such as Gatorade, lemonade, etc., styrofoam hinge lid plates (to go plates), foil, large disposable cooking baking pans, etc. You will need to call our church number, as seen above, to schedule your drop off time and location. Your contact person will be either Pastor Joe Young or Shanna Fuller.
3) Prayer support. We are aware that as this initial phase of the disaster is passing that people will be dealing with the grief, possible depression and the emotional results of trauma. Please continue to pray for the people of this region as well as those of us in the "field" to have the wisdom and words of Life from the Father's heart.
Again, let me say one big thank you to you, our friends! Know that what you have sown into this Kingdom work has made and will continue to make a difference in the lives of so many as they experience the love of God. May the Lord bless you, your families and your churches abundantly in the days ahead!

Greetings all,
Let me just say thank you to all who have responded to the needs I communicated last week. This is truly an effort that is so massive in scope that it will take the body of Christ coming together to accomplish the tasks at hand and we are seeing that very thing happen! I just wanted to let you know where things are standing right now. We will be moving our POD (point of distribution) up on the mountain where the devastation and need is so great now that Scottsboro has had it's power returnd. It is anticipated that we will be feeding much of the county and the relief workers, possibly 2,000 per meal or 6,000 per day. Needless to say we have a huge need for food that can be cooked on the grills, finances and tarps at this time. This will also be our point of drop off for such items. The address is:
3030 Co Rd 58
Pisgah, AL 35765
The location is actually in a warehouse 1/2 mi past the Dollar General Store.
Financial gifts can be made out to Expectations Ministries and sent to Co Rd 534 Box 370, Scottsboro, AL 35768
May I ask that you continue to spread the word to your friends and associates regarding any interest they may have in assisting with the disaster relief in Alabama, to partner with us here in northeastern Alabama? Again, I so appreciate what you all have done so far. There is no way we could have done the labor and the feeding thus far without your help. You all are surely a part of His love going forth! Do continue to pray on our behalf as we need His strength and wisdom for the days ahead. May you know His favor and blessings!

Dear Friends,
As you are aware, Alabama was devastated Wednesday in an a very unusual way with multiple tornadoes, several were F4's. The national news has done great coverage on the damage and tragedy in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, however the damage in north Alabama has seen the greatest loss of life and the destruction from the west to the east is hard to comprehend. We hit the road running to set up a POD (point of distribution)on Wednesday for those affected by the tornados. We are without power, which means we can't pump gas, communications are extremely limited, people can't cook, have lost the food in their refrigerators/freezers, many grocery stores are closed due to the lack of power and as time goes by, our situation grows increasingly desperate. They are still recovering bodies in the midst of the rubble!

This is nothing less than a cry for help!!! Yesterday we served 4500 meals from breakfast to the evening curfew! The need is staggering and as people learn we are here, the numbers are going to continue to swell. We need your help, either personally, from your churches and for you all to just get the word out regarding our need here....tell your friends! How can you help?
- food that can be grilled, propane, fuel, finances, tarps, water, plastic ware: to go plates, utensils, styrofoam cups and as soon as power
power returns we are going to need volunteers
As our ability to get supplies here increases our POD will be a place people can come and get non-perishable foods, water, basic supplies such as personal hygiene items, diapers/wipes, work gloves, flashlights/batteries, etc. Would you consider becoming a collection site for such items? This labor is going to be ongoing and extensive in our region as we assist some who have lost everything or the ability to provide for themselves for a season.
Thank you for your hearts for the kingdom and for your help in advance! Finances can be made out to Expectation Ministries and sent to Co Rd 534 Box 370 Scottsboro, AL 35768. If you have questions or you would like to send a missions team to help out in the days a head, you can call me. Please do continue to pray for us as we serve as His hands and feet in this time, for grace and favor for supplies and for the power of God to be seen in the earth! Again, thank you.
In Him,
Greg DeVries

Hello Everyone! Hope all is well with you. We have just finished up our Revision Conference this past Saturday. What an awesome time with Pastors and leaders in the ministry. It was a time of worshipping and getting fed from the word with some much needed teaching about revising our ministries. Revision: The act of revising or altering (involving reconsideration and modification) We all have different callings and we must lay hold of that which Christ Jesus laid hold of us, looking forward to the things ahead of you! We don't just want a visitation, we want an invasion. We don't just want God to come visit us and then leave. We want him to come invade our lives and take over. The Lord gives us visions because he trusts us to fulfill them. If you would like to listen to any of the messages from Revision 2011 you can go to: www.therockfwc.org and go under podcasts. You should find all of them there. I hope some of you Pastors and leaders were able to join us this past weekend and if not, you are welcome to join us next year. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
In Him,
Greg DeVries |
